The Door That knocked back

## Introduction

Everyone has heard a strange knock at the door at least once. Most of the time, it's just the wind, a neighbor, or someone at the wrong house.

But what if the knock wasn't asking to come in?

What if it was waiting for you to answer?

When I moved into my grandfather's abandoned farmhouse, the locals warned me about one thing.

"Never answer the door after midnight."

They refused to explain why.

I laughed it off.

On my third night, I learned they weren't joking.

It was exactly 12:00 a.m. when I heard it.

**Knock... Knock... Knock...**

Three slow knocks.

I looked through the window.

Nobody.

I opened the door anyway.

Nothing but darkness.

As I closed it, I heard another knock.

This time...

It came from the inside of the house.

My heart nearly stopped.

I searched every room with a flashlight.

Nothing.

No footprints.

No broken windows.

No sign that anyone had entered.

Trying to calm myself, I returned to bed.

Then...

**Knock... Knock... Knock...**

Again.

From inside my bedroom closet.

I stood frozen.

The knocking continued.

Slow.

Patient.

Almost polite.

I grabbed the closet handle and pulled it open.

Empty.

Just old clothes covered in dust.

I sighed in relief.

Then one of the coats whispered,

"You opened the wrong door."

The bedroom light exploded.

Darkness swallowed the room.

I stumbled backward and slammed into the bedroom door.

It wouldn't open.

Someone—or something—began knocking from the other side.

Louder each time.

BANG.

BANG.

BANG.

The wood cracked.

A deep voice echoed through the house.

"You answered."

Suddenly every door inside the farmhouse started knocking at once.

The kitchen.

The bathroom.

The basement.

Even the attic.

Hundreds of knocks surrounded me.

I covered my ears, but they only became louder.

Then...

Silence.

Complete silence.

The bedroom door slowly creaked open by itself.

In the hallway stood a tall figure with no face.

Its head tilted toward me.

It pointed at the front door.

Outside, I could hear three gentle knocks.

The faceless figure whispered,

"Now it's your turn."

The next morning, the farmhouse was empty.

Neighbors found the front door wide open.

No furniture had been moved.

No signs of a struggle.

Only three fresh fingerprints burned into the wood beside the door.

To this day, the house remains abandoned.

People say that every night at exactly midnight, someone knocks three times.

If anyone answers...

The knocking begins inside instead.

## Final Thoughts

Some doors are closed for a reason.

If you ever hear three slow knocks at exactly midnight—and no one is outside—

Leave the door closed.

Because not every visitor wants to come in.

Sometimes...

They want you to take their place.
